Tel Aviv is an amazing, family-friendly city. There are so many amazing things to do (see my top ten here!), but one thing that you can’t miss if you’re visiting Tel Aviv with kids is actually about 20 minutes north of the city.
Herzliya Park.
You might be thinking that all nice parks are basically the same, so why bother heading to the suburb of Herzliya to play on some swings?

Because within Herzliya Park is the best playground I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen some awesome playgrounds all around the world.
This park is massive.
First, let’s start by talking about Herzliya Park itself – all 180 acres of it. This public park has it all: bikes paths, running trails, a lake, an amphitheater, sculptures, a petting zoo (apparently… we did not find it), an off-leash dog park, a mountain bike park, several small playgrounds, some cafes, and more.
And that’s all before you get to the wildly popular main playground.
We started our tour of Herzliya Park by stopping into Cafe Gan Sipur. This was my first full day in Tel Aviv, and I was out exploring by myself with a 2 year old and a baby. I am so happy that we found this fabulous little cafe. It was family-friendly, and the Israeli dishes were hearty and delicious. Just what we needed to power up for the fun ahead.

Just outside of the cafe, we found the first pair of playgrounds, and not realizing that these weren’t the main playground, I was a bit disappointed. These were nice, but nowhere near as massive as what I had been expecting. Thankfully, a quick google search told me that I was at the wrong end of the park, so after a few minutes of play, we wandered on.

It took us a LONG time to make it to the other end of the park, but we had so much fun along the way exploring everything that Herzliya Park has to offer.

This playground is amazing.
And then, just when everyone was starting to get a little cranky from all the walking (and by everyone, I mean myself wearing the baby and pushing the toddler in the stroller), we saw it.

Now this, we could not mistake. This was definitely THE playground.
So let’s talk about this crazy playground!

Countless slides, in all shapes and sizes.
A fabulous toddler play area (that my toddler wanted nothing to do with).
Every style of swing you can imagine.
Impressive climbing walls and webbing.
Miles of rope bridges (practically).
And then there’s the crown jewel of the playground: the 26-foot straight slide. The one that my 2 year old couldn’t wait to go on. I kept her away from it until my husband was off work and caught up with us so that she wasn’t up there alone.

She loved it, of course.
We ended the day with some ice cream and snacks from the cafe right next to the playground. This is definitely a playground that I would come to over and over again (if we didn’t live on the other side of the world).

If you’re visiting the area with kids, make the trek up from Tel Aviv. This park is absolutely worthwhile for an afternoon. Or two. Or more! Would love to hear your thoughts, or to hear from anybody who has visited this awesome park, in the comments!

That playground looks as big as an amusement park. Parks are often my favorite parts of cities. It is nice to get an escape.
Haha this looks like so much fun! It’s been years since I’ve been able to let loose on something like this!
Wow that really is a massive park. I know I would have loved that as a kid and I bet it is an amazing place to bring children!
Awww, lookit that big girl having all the fun! 🤗😍this park is huge! It’s probably a great time to relax after a long day of walking and exploring.
Wow ! This playground is sick ! I am sure it is not just fun for the kids ! Adults can have an awesome time here too ! =)
I haven’t been able to play on that playground for years 🙁 missing it a lot! Can’t wait to have kids of my own and take them there!
It’s truly the coolest playground I have ever seen! You are lucky to have spent time there. I am certain that your future children will love it! 😊
Hi Dani, I randomly found this blog while searching for advice for traveling with kids (my passion!) and I love it! I’m so inspired by your family travels. I was born in Tel Aviv but grew up in NJ and I’m planning a trip to acquaint my kids (and myself) with my hometown. Thank you for all these fabulous ideas.
Hi Shuli! I am so glad that you’ve found my blog helpful. I imagine you will have an amazing trip to visit Tel Aviv. It is such a great city to visit with kids! What a wonderful reason to travel, too – to get in touch with the place you were born. Have a great trip!
Thank you for this and your other Israel content – planning a trip with a 4 yo in August! When did you visit / do you think this would be too hot in the summer (i.e. is there shade)?
We went in August! It was hot, but not uncomfortably so for us. We never felt like we were stranded without shade. A couple of the longer walks (like getting from where we were staying into the Old Town) were a bit grueling in midday, but at least when we were there, not all that bad.
